Wärtsilä is a Finnish engineering group that makes engines, power plants, and marine systems. After a strategic review that began in 2023, it moved its battery storage unit, which made EUR 694 million in sales in 2025 at a 3.3% operating margin, into Valo, a 50/50 joint venture with RCT Solutions that closed on 1 October 2026.
