Volare is a Finnish company, spun off from the VTT Technical Research Centre in 2021, that turns food-industry side streams into insect protein and oil using black soldier fly larvae. In October 2026 it opened Volare 01 in Pori, a 5,000-tonne protein plant built in a former newspaper printing hall on schedule and within its €15 million budget, with much of its output pre-sold to Skretting. It raised €7.1 million through Springvest and is scouting sites for a second plant about five times larger.
