SUSE is a Nuremberg-based enterprise Linux and open source software company, founded in 1992 and owned by the Swedish private equity firm EQT, which bought it from Micro Focus for $2.5 billion in 2018. On 2 November 2026 its chief executive told staff that about 10% of the workforce, roughly 190 of more than 1,900 people, would go as automation and AI change how software companies operate, with affected employees to be told by 4 November. Reuters reported in March that EQT was weighing a sale.
