Statkraft is Norway's state-owned power company and Europe's largest generator of renewable electricity, with a trading arm that prices and hedges power risk for third parties.
In September 2026 it completed what it and SSE describe as the first FCA-regulated swap tied to a battery revenue index, taking the merchant risk on British storage revenue in exchange for paying SSE a fixed sum. Later that month it signed a ten-year tolling deal for 400MW, 1.6GWh of Greenvolt batteries in Poland, its first large storage contract there, which gives it control over when the batteries charge and discharge.
