Sonnen is a German maker of home batteries based in Wildpoldsried in the Allgäu. Shell bought it in 2019 for close to EUR 500 million and sold it in summer 2026 to Tiven, the family office of an Aurelius co-founder. Revenue fell from EUR 443 million in 2023 to EUR 198.9 million in 2024 under competition from Chinese suppliers, and in October 2026 the company confirmed an insolvency filing, with service for more than 150,000 customers meant to continue.
