Ore Energy is a long-duration storage company spun out of TU Delft in 2023 and working from Delft and Amsterdam. Its iron-air cells store electricity for up to 100 hours by rusting and unrusting iron electrodes, using only iron, water and air rather than lithium or cobalt.

It connected the first grid-tied iron-air battery in the Netherlands in 2025 and ran a four-day discharge pilot at an EDF site in France. In August 2026 it raised a $43 million Series A led by Plural and HV Capital, taking total funding past $61 million and paying for its first manufacturing plant.
