- Job cuts
- 1,400 roles (18%)
O2 Telefónica is Telefónica's German mobile network operator. On 14 July 2026 it announced it would cut around 1,400 jobs, 18% of its workforce, under a restructuring called the Future Operating Model, months after its CEO had ruled out cuts and framed AI tools as a way to boost existing staff's efficiency instead. The reversal followed the loss of 1&1, its largest wholesale customer, to Vodafone.
