- Reported target
- Ambarella, over $3B (August 2026)
NXP Semiconductors is Europe's largest automotive chip maker, headquartered in Eindhoven and spun out of Philips in 2006. Its recent growth has come from AI moving out of the data centre and into vehicles, factories and robots, a shift chief executive Rafael Sotomayor has made central to the company's positioning. In August 2026 it was reported to be in exploratory talks to acquire the California edge AI chip designer Ambarella for more than $3 billion.
