NewOrbit is a Reading-based UK startup, founded 2021, building satellites for very low Earth orbit (200–300km) — a band enabling higher-resolution imagery and lower-latency communications but with no existing commercial manufacturing infrastructure. Its oversubscribed $18.5 million Series A in June 2026 funds a production complex planned for 2027, with a first commercial satellite targeting launch in 2028; Nvidia's former chief scientist David Kirk joined as an angel.
