Mironid is a Glasgow biopharmaceutical company spun out of the University of Strathclyde in 2015, developing small molecules for degenerative and rare genetic kidney disease. Its lead programme activates long-form PDE4 enzymes to break down cyclic AMP, the signal that drives cyst growth in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, a condition affecting around 12.4 million people with only one approved targeted treatment. In August 2026 it raised a $46 million Series B led by the Scottish National Investment Bank, its first round since an extended Series A in 2023, enough to carry the company through to initial clinical data.
