Microsoft appears in Long Build coverage through Digital Markets Act enforcement. In June 2026 the European Commission gave its preliminary view that Azure should be designated a gatekeeper under the DMA, the first time cloud infrastructure has been targeted. Microsoft has until September 2026 to respond, with a final decision due by January 2027 that could impose data-portability, interoperability and fair-access obligations.
It is also absorbing French AI talent. In September 2026 Laurent Sifre, chief technical officer and last remaining cofounder of the Paris agent startup H Company, joined Microsoft's AI research team in Paris.
