Meta Platforms is the US technology company behind Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, headquartered in Menlo Park, California. In July 2026 the European Commission preliminarily found Meta in breach of the Digital Services Act over the addictive design of Instagram and Facebook, a case that could carry a fine of up to 6% of its global turnover if confirmed.
