- 2GW renewable capacity in Montenegro
Masdar is Abu Dhabi's state-owned clean energy company, built to develop renewable and green hydrogen projects across the world on behalf of the UAE. In July 2026 it moved its Montenegro joint venture with state utility EPCG from agreement to execution, signing project development deals for two solar plants and a framework to explore over 400MW of pumped hydro storage, the first concrete steps toward a targeted 2GW of capacity in the country. In October 2026 it agreed to buy the 550 MW Enipeas solar plant in Thessaly from Lightsource bp and signed a memorandum with Khazna Data Centers to study up to 600 MW of renewable-powered data centres in Greece.
