Lionix International designs and manufactures silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits on its Triplex platform, from Enschede in the eastern Netherlands. The technology traces back to a life marker chip it built for ESA's ExoMars programme two decades ago and now also underpins biomedical diagnostics. A Lionix sensor will fly on TU Delft's LMCOOL pocketqube mission in early 2027 to test whether amino acids can be identified in orbit by refractive index.
