Leading Edge Materials

Leading Edge Materials is developing Norra Kärr, a heavy rare-earth element deposit in southern Sweden and one of Europe's most significant sources of the minerals used in magnets, wind turbines and electric motors. The company holds a 25-year mining lease granted in June 2026 and is pursuing a midstream processing strategy: basic separation at the mine site, with chemical processing routed to a separate hydrometallurgical facility. In July 2026 the Swedish government backed the plan with roughly SEK 42 million through Vinnova, part of a wider SEK 70 million push to secure the country's critical raw materials supply.
