LawZero is a non-profit AI safety organisation founded in Montreal in 2025 by Yoshua Bengio. Its research programme, Scientist AI, aims at systems that model the world and evaluate hypotheses without pursuing goals of their own, intended first as a monitoring layer over frontier models. In September 2026 Canada and Germany committed CAD 150 million and around EUR 100 million respectively, funding 360 posts and dedicated compute in Canada and a new research site in Berlin.
