Ineffable Intelligence is a London-based AI lab founded by David Silver, former head of reinforcement learning at Google DeepMind. It emerged from stealth in April 2026 with a $1.1 billion seed at a $5.1 billion valuation, the largest seed round in European history, co-led by Sequoia and Lightspeed with Nvidia, Google and the UK Sovereign AI Fund participating. Its thesis: RL self-play, learning without human-labelled data, unlocks qualitatively different AI capability.
In September 2026, ten months in and with no product, it named six cofounders: Chris Apps, Wojciech Czarnecki, Junhyuk Oh and Lasse Espeholt from Google DeepMind, Alexandre Laterre from InstaDeep, and Heather Gorham of Flying Fish handling compute and fundraising.
