Greenvolt

Greenvolt is a Portuguese renewables developer founded in 2021 as a spin-out from pulp group Altri and taken private by KKR in 2024. It builds utility-scale solar, wind, biomass and storage across Europe, with its largest recent activity in Poland.

In July 2026 its Greenvolt Power arm inaugurated a 200MW, 800MWh battery plant at Turosn Koscielna near Bialystok, built from BYD lithium iron phosphate modules and holding a 17-year capacity market contract from 2028. In September 2026 it started building a 600MW, 2.4GWh battery at Siedlce, due to run by the end of 2027, and signed a ten-year tolling deal handing Statkraft control of 400MW at Elk and Turosn Koscielna; with all three sites running it will hold 1GW of batteries in Poland.
