Greensmalt is building a photovoltaic panel recycling line at Seini in Maramureș county, Romania, funded through the North-West Regional Programme 2021-2027. The company is owned in equal parts by a Romanian founder and two Italian partners.
The line processes a tonne of panels an hour, roughly 45 units, and recovers glass cullet, plastics, aluminium, silicon and copper. It is Romania's second such plant, after Sun 3R Green Recycling opened in Brașov county in April 2025.
