Google appears in Long Build coverage chiefly through EU enforcement. In April 2026 the European Commission proposed measures requiring Google to share search engine data with third parties, and in July 2026 it moved to fine parent company Alphabet several hundred million euros more under the Digital Markets Act, over Search self-preferencing and Play Store anti-steering rules. In September 2026 Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined Google EUR 403 million under GDPR for location data processing between 2018 and 2020.
In October 2026 a second German court, in Aachen, issued a preliminary injunction treating Google's AI Mode answers as Google's own statements, after the Munich Regional Court reached the same view in May; the Aachen order covers false claims about a local physician and carries fines of up to EUR 250,000 per breach.
