Eni is Italy's state-backed energy major, and since 2024 it has also run the most powerful supercomputing estate owned by any private industrial company. Its HPC6 and HPC7 systems together deliver roughly one exaflop of sustained performance, placing HPC7 sixth globally and second in Europe on the June 2026 TOP500 list. In July 2026 Eni opened that capacity to outside startups and research institutions, the first time exascale-class compute has been offered as an external service by a firm that is neither a government lab nor a hyperscaler.
