DIOSynVax is a University of Cambridge spin-out behind pEVAC-PS, a pan-Sarbecovirus vaccine designed entirely by machine learning. In June 2026 it reported the first human trial of a fully AI-designed vaccine found the candidate safe and immunogenic across 39 healthy volunteers. The result establishes that AI-specified antigen structures with no natural equivalent can be synthesised, manufactured and tested in humans; the open question is whether the platform generalises to novel pathogens.
