CuspAI is a Cambridge-based startup using generative AI to discover new materials, proposing candidate molecules, then screening them computationally before any lab work. In June 2026 it was closing a $400 million round at a $2.6 billion valuation, backed by Jeff Bezos's family office and Kleiner Perkins, with advisers Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun. With Finnish firm Kemira it compressed years of PFAS-removal chemistry into six months, searching ~300 trillion structures to return 5,000 novel metal-organic frameworks. On 20 July 2026 it closed the round at $450 million and launched an AI Materials Foundry with Nvidia and Meta, extending the same platform from water treatment into semiconductor materials discovery.
