Ambarella is a Santa Clara chip designer founded in 2004, making AI image-processing processors that run inference inside cameras and vehicles rather than in the cloud. Its main market is advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems. In August 2026 the Dutch chip maker NXP was reported to be in exploratory talks to acquire it for more than $3 billion, with no agreement reached.
