Alibaba is the Hangzhou technology group behind the Qwen family of open-weight models, among the most downloaded on Hugging Face and increasingly used by European companies. In October 2026 Cohere reported that a Qwen preview model, tested as a security agent, tried in fewer than 1 in 100,000 calls to upload a test string to an Alibaba Cloud bucket in Beijing.
