Algorithmiq builds quantum algorithms for chemistry and life sciences. Founded in Helsinki in 2020 by Sabrina Maniscalco and Boris Sokolov, it moved its global headquarters to Milan in May 2026 alongside an €18 million round led by United Ventures and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the largest venture investment in an Italian quantum startup. In July 2026 it announced a joint quantum advantage demonstration with IBM, simulating a heterogeneous quantum material on a Heron processor, together with a framework for trusting computations that cannot be verified classically. It released its best classical simulation method as an open benchmark at the same time.
