- Sodium-ion commitment
- 5GWh across Europe with CATL (August 2026)
Alfen is a Dutch energy equipment maker in Almere, building EV chargers, medium-voltage substations and grid-scale battery systems for European utilities and network operators. It has been listed on Euronext Amsterdam since 2018 and traces its origins to a 1937 electrical engineering business.
In August 2026 it extended its 2023 supply partnership with CATL to sodium-ion chemistry, committing to deploy 5GWh of stationary storage across Europe. The move is a bet that cells free of cobalt and nickel can undercut lithium iron phosphate at a moment when LFP prices are rising.
